Museum Collection

The Museum in Presentation House contains a permanent exhibit that encapsulates 150 years of North Vancouver history. This themed display includes selected artifacts from the Museum’s collection; many thousand more objects cannot be displayed due to lack of space.

The Museum’s collection contains almost 20,000 historic artifacts. They include many different types of objects including First Nation artifacts, industrial artifacts and tools, works of art, domestic implements, clothing and uniforms, personal items, sports equipment and trophies, as well as three historic vehicles.

At present, the Museum is reviewing its collections for relevance and quality, and to ensure that everything has a direct connection to North Vancouver. The total number of objects is being selectively reduced. An overarching theme guiding the refinement process is the relationship between local people and places through time. Our goal is to develop a collection that explores how the unique landscape, and the interaction of people with the land, shaped North Vancouver’s history, creates its present, and will define its future.
