Volunteering

Become an NVMA Volunteer

NVMA offers extraordinary opportunities to participate in the work of a community heritage organization. Whether you enjoy meeting people, working with children, or working behind-the-scenes, there are many ways you can volunteer.

School Program Docent

As a docent, you will share your enthusiasm and communication skills and will inspire students to explore and appreciate our community’s history. Working in teams, docents present hands-on, curricula-based educational programs to primary- and intermediate-level students. Training is provided by NVMA staff members. Sessions run from mid-October to mid-December and from February to April. All programs are offered Wednesday to Friday mornings.

Program Assistant

Do you enjoy workshops, lectures and tours? Event volunteers help prepare for and present special events for adults, children, and families. Shifts are available on weekends and weekday afternoons.

Archives Assistant

Archives volunteers help to document our collections of photographs, maps, documents and other resources. Tasks include maintaining clipping files, data entry, scanning and research duties. If you enjoy learning about North Vancouver and working behind-the-scenes, this job is for you. The Archives is open Tuesday through Saturday.

Museum Assistant

Are you interested in working with museum artifacts? Volunteers are needed to research objects, do data entry, make storage mounts, and help inventory artifacts. Shifts are available during the day Monday to Friday.
