Friends Society (Membership)

Welcome!

The Friends of the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Society is a registered charity and membership organization which helps to develop and maintain awareness of our community history, while supporting and raising funds for the North Vancouver Museum & Archives, their programs, exhibits and other activities.

We invite you to join the Friends Society. All membership fees, donations and funds raised through sponsorship, book sales, and community functions are used to support the goals, activities and programs of the Museum & Archives.

This financial support helps NVMA to:

• acquire items for the collections,
• purchase necessary equipment,
• hire summer students, and
• provide support for publications that feature North Vancouver’s history, including the Express newsletter, one of the finest community history newsletters you‘ll see anywhere.

The Express is researched and produced by Friends Society volunteers and mailed to Society members four times a year.

Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 pm at the Community History Centre
Following the formal meeting, a public presentation for all will be given.
PUBLIC PRESENTATION – EVERYONE IS WELCOME

“A New-Style Museum for North Vancouver – Sharing our Community’s Stories”
At 8:00 pm, Friends members and the public are invited to attend a special, half-hour presentation by exhibit designer Juan Tanus of KEI Space Design, followed by a question period. Juan will illustrate how creativity, technology, traditional media, historic artifacts and “outside the box” thinking are integrated into the concept plans for a fresh new-style museum on the waterfront – an exciting, lively place where children and people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, play, explore, celebrate and discover more about their community and themselves.

Membership

Please consider joining the Friends Society and helping support the Museum & Archives. There is also an ongoing need for member volunteers to get involved with NVMA’s programs and to help with public awareness functions throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming you as a member soon.

As a Member of the Friends of the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Society you will receive quarterly issues of the Friends newsletter “Express”. Links to sample newsletters are posted in the sidebar at the right.
